Educational Playcare opened its Farmington School in 2001. It is situated on Route 6, in the Camelot Commons, between Exits 37 and 38 off of I-84. We share this beautiful red brick building with Children’s Eye Care; our building is the first one when you enter the plaza.
Our center in Farmington is a spacious two story facility. As you drive in to our parking lot, you will notice there is plenty of free parking space for our parents, for easy drop off and pick up. The center consists of about 20 large and bright classrooms. Outside, the seven large playgrounds create an extensive play area for children of all age groups, providing them with ample space to enjoy the outdoors while developing their large muscle skills.
Each entranceway is secured by a pin-activated security system, ensuring that only our families and staff can enter the building unassisted. Each family and staff member are issues their own unique code allowing us the ability to deactivate an individual code, if needed. In addition, strategically placed panic buttons link us to the local police station in the event of an emergency, and each classroom has at least one security camera which allows our Directors to continuously monitor activities throughout the center.
Our state-of-the-art facility consists of two floors. As you walk in, you will find the reception are directly to your right. Our Director or Assistant Director is always there to greet you and offer you a cup of coffee or tea. You and your child might also enjoy the serenity of the giant fish in our aquarium as you head towards the classrooms.
The first floor consists of our infant and toddler classrooms, offices, and professional kitchen where fresh nutritious meals and snacks are prepared on a daily basis. Most of these classrooms have direct access to the outdoor playgrounds; each one designed according to that particular classrooms age group. Our Farmington center has a unique open concept structure. All classes on the first floor have low windows on both sides, providing plenty of sunlight and brightness as well as great outdoor views for the children. Most classrooms on the first floor also have low doors and walls as well, bringing in more natural light. Our classrooms are designed with every conceivable childcare benefit in mind right down to the toddler-sized toilets in our bathrooms.
Downstairs you will find a huge room that is used for indoor play, special events, and our arts and enrichment programs consisting of music, fitness, and yoga! We also have a private room for nursing mothers and conference room on this floor.
The second floor consists of our preschool and school age programs. As you step in the elevator, the first thing you might notice is that the walls are covered with colorful art work created by the children. All our classrooms are generously sized, providing much more than the minimum requirements for CT classrooms. Each one is divided into activity centers that range from Science and Math, to Music and Movement, and from Building and Construction to Literacy and Dramatic Play. All of these centers are available to children throughout each day.
Our preschool playground consists of everything from a huge, wooden, boat-shaped climber to an enormous inflatable bounce house – the children’s favorite! There is also a paved area for the use of riding toys. Other amenities include a set of giant outdoor wooden construction blocks and plenty of materials for throwing, kicking, balancing, and more!
From the street and parking area, only our preschool playground is visible which, although huge itself, is only a small part of our total outdoor play spaces. Hidden behind the building are numerous toddler playgrounds that wrap around the back of the building and culminate in an unbelievable, seven part playscape. Each section has different equipment and features that include child sized benches, multiple playscapes for different age groups, a sand box, and many swings. All of our playgrounds are designed and gated for the safety of our children.
