Educational Playcare opened its doors on Wilbur Cross Way in Mansfield in November of 2015. The center was designed from the ground up with every conceivable childcare benefit in mind. Our state-of-the-art facility is located right in the heart of Storrs Center, a vibrant and active community of restaurants, shops, offices, and homes. Storrs Center hosts many community events throughout the year that we love to participate in. Our location is ideal for families living or working in the nearby region.
The center offers several parking spaces just outside our doors with many, many more spaces available in the parking garage located at the end of our street. Parking outside of the center is free for up to 30 minutes while parking in the garage is free for up to 2 hours.
Having provided exceptional child care services throughout Connecticut since 1986, we poured all of that knowledge into the development of this beautiful and state-of-the-art school. Every feature of the facility is a reflection of all of the positive things we have learned about early childhood education over the years.
The facility is spacious and benefits from wonderful natural light and colorful interior features. Outside, the seven large playgrounds provide an extensive play area for the children, providing them with ample space to enjoy the outdoors while developing their large muscle skills.
All entrances to our school in Mansfield feature the same security aspects. Each entranceway is secured by a pin-activated security system, ensuring that only our families and teachers can enter the building unassisted. In addition, each classroom, playground, and indoor play room has at least one security camera which allows our Directors to continuously monitor activities throughout the center. We even have “panic buttons” that alert the police in the event of an emergency with just a quick press of a button.
As you pull up in our parking are, you will be welcomed by our remarkable and breath-taking facility. The main entrance, located right out front, brings you into our spacious entry way. In the foyer, you’ll find that we provide space for families to store their child’s car seat or carrier for added convenience. In the lobby, you’ll find a large and spacious reception area where you will be greeted by our Director and Assistant Director and offered a complimentary cup of coffee or tea.
On the right side of the entrance are colorful tables for our families and teachers to sit and relax. Just a few steps away, you will see benches, child-sized tables and chairs, and many books for you and your child’s enjoyment.
Our center consists of thirteen exceptionally large classrooms. Walking down the hallways on the first floor, you will see our infant and toddler classrooms. Each one is brightly lit with natural light coming from our large windows on both sides. We strongly believe that every child deserves a safe, high quality learning environment. Our durable wooden furniture is designed specifically for children to help them feel comfortable and at home.
Another added feature you will notice are the decorative light panels that our infants love, as it adds color and provides a great view.
At the left on the reception area you will find our elevator. It’s full of colorful photos of our happy children. This will take you to the second floor which consists of our preschool programs.
All our preschool classrooms are generously sized, providing much more than the minimum requirements for CT classrooms. Additionally, they each have wide and tall windows for children to enjoy the sunlight and look out to the trees and playgrounds below. Each of these rooms are divided into several activity centers that include science, math, music and movement, construction, literacy, and dramatic play. All of these centers are available to children throughout each day.
You will also notice that our Mansfield school has an exceptional interior. The facility was designed with every conceivable childcare benefit in mind. The furniture we have in our facility is not only child-appropriate and adorable, it is also eco-friendly.
There is also a massive indoor play area on our second floor. In addition to being a wonderful play area for children to use when the weather won’t allow us to go outside, it also provides children with opportunities to use their imaginations in countless ways. We also use it for our Arts and Enrichment classes.
Educational Playcare in Mansfield has seven state-of-the-art playgrounds! There are several playgrounds for our toddler programs located behind our main building. Several of the classrooms have direct access to this space. Besides the climbing equipment, riding toys, and abundant running space, our children also frequently participate in special outdoor activities such as water-play, picnic snacks, and science and art projects. On the side of the building is yet another playground for our infants. Our specifically designed infant playground is ideal for young children still crawling or learning to walk.
Following the sidewalk next to our main entrance will lead you to our large preschool playground. Included in this area are swings, slides, several climbers, a large play house, many playscapes, and a huge inflatable bounce house – the children’s favorite! Children have access to the playgrounds and all of their amenities at least twice a day, weather permitting.
