We have two locations in West Hartford. They are named after their respective addresses.

West Hartford on Fennway

Overview
Our West Hartford on Fennway school is located just minutes from downtown Hartford, on the first floor of Congregation Beth Israel. Although originally part of the temple, this child care center has been part of Educational Playcare since 2014. Extensive renovations have taken place, reflecting all of the positive things we have learned about early childhood education through nearly 30 years of providing exceptional child care services.

As you drive onto Fennway, and into the parking lot, you will see the two wings of our West Hartford school. On the left side, are some of our infant and toddler classrooms and on the right are our outdoor play spaces. There is plenty of free parking just outside the front door allowing for easy drop off and pick-up for our families.

We have two entrances from the parking lot. The one on the left takes you directly to the reception area of the school while we share the other entrance with the synagogue.

Our center is spread out across both sides of the first floor of the synagogue. The classrooms benefit from wonderful natural lighting and colorful interior features.

Security
The entrance of the school is secured by a pin-activated security system, ensuring that only our families and teachers can enter the building unassisted. In addition, security cameras throughout the school allow our Directors to continuously monitor activities throughout the center. We even have “panic buttons” that alert the police in the event of an emergency with just a quick press of a button.

Interior Features
As you walk in through the main entrance, you will be welcomed by a large and bright reception area. Here you will be greeted by our Director and Assistant Director and offered a complimentary cup of coffee or tea. We also provide space for families to store their child’s car seat or carrier for added convenience.

Walking through our corridors, you will notice our beautiful and brightly lit classrooms. On the left side of the building are ten infant and toddler classrooms and two enormous preschool classrooms. Down the right corridor are six more classrooms consisting of four older toddler rooms and two more large preschool rooms.

Our classrooms are enormous, and provide much more space than the minimum requirements for CT classrooms. Each of these rooms are divided into several activity centers that include science, math, music and movement, construction, literacy, and dramatic play. All of these centers are available to the children throughout each day.

Upstairs in the synagogue, there is an enormous room which we call the Activity Room. Its space allows us to provide the children with activities for climbing, balancing, throwing, and other large muscle experiences whenever the weather does not permit outdoor play. It’s also the scene or our arts and enrichment classes. In addition, we have a state-of-the-art kitchen where nutritious and children-friendly lunches and snacks are prepared daily.

Exterior Features
Outside, we have two playgrounds. One is tailored to meet the needs of our infants and toddlers and the other is geared toward preschool children. The younger children’s playground is covered with turf to provide a safe outdoor area for children who are still crawling or learning to walk. The older children’s playground consists of swings, slides, and a playscape. All children enjoy outdoor experiences twice a day, weather permitting.

West Hartford on Park

Overview
Our school at West Hartford on Park is located just around the corner from exit 43 off of I-84, on the corner of Park Road and Walter Avenue. Although originally a church, the facility had been converted to a child care center since the 1980’s until Educational Playcare bought it and completed an extensive renovation in 2016.

As you turn into our driveway, you’ll find parking spaces just to your left. Walking toward the ramp to our main entrance will lead you past our preschool playground. If it’s not winter, you’ll likely see our giant inflatable bounce house – the children’s favorite outdoor activity.

On the first floor, you’ll find our infant and toddler classrooms. Each one is beautifully lit due to the large windows. Our classrooms are enormous, and provide much more space than the minimum requirements for CT classrooms. Downstairs, this theme is continued in the classrooms for our older toddlers and younger preschoolers. Each of these rooms are divided into several activity centers that include science, math, music and movement, construction, literacy, and dramatic play. All of these centers are available to the children throughout each day.

Upstairs, you’ll find our classroom for older preschoolers and before-and-after school children. In addition, we have a state-of-the-art kitchen where nutritious and children-friendly lunches and snacks are prepared daily.

Exterior Features
Outside, we have several large playgrounds. Each is designed to meet the unique needs of a specific age group – infants, toddlers, and preschool. The younger children’s playground contains safe space for crawling and toddling, and equipment for climbing, pushing, rolling, and more. The older children’s playground consists of swings, slides, a playscape, and an inflatable bounce house. We also bring our classroom learning centers outside, providing outdoor opportunities for science, math, art, and music experiences. All children enjoy outdoor experiences at least twice a day, weather permitting.
