Windsor

Overview
Educational Playcare opened its doors on Day Hill Road in Windsor in September of 2002. The center was designed from the ground up with every conceivable childcare benefit in mind. Located in the Windsor Corporate area, we are only a short drive from exit 37 or 38 off of I-91. Our location is ideal for families living or working in the nearby region. Our child-friendly center is NAEYC accredited and meets all the standards of a high quality center ideal for a child’s early development.

Our Windsor center occupies almost two-thirds of the entire shopping plaza on Day Hill Road. Our exterior veils a beautiful state-of-the-art facility. As you walk in, you will be surprised to see how large the facility really is. The center also offers plenty of parking space to parents for easy drop off and pick up. The classrooms and indoor play areas are spread out over more than 12,000 square feet and benefit from an abundance of wonderful natural lighting and colorful interior features. Outside, the 5 large playgrounds provide an extensive play area for the children, providing them with ample space to enjoy the outdoors while developing their large muscles.

Security
Each entranceway is secured by a pin-activated security system, ensuring that only our families and teachers can enter the building unassisted. In addition, each classroom has at least one video monitor which allows our Directors to continuously monitor activities throughout the center. We even have “panic buttons” that alert the police in the event of an emergency with just the quick press of a button.

Interior Features
The main entrance opens into a colorful and bright reception area where you will be greeted by our Directors and offered a complimentary cup of coffee or tea. You and your child can enjoy looking at the aquarium and the murals on the windows or relax in one of the cushioned wicker chairs. A slideshow of photos from the day’s events (pulled from our daily reporting app), and the soothing music in our lobby create a calm and pleasant atmosphere that parents, children, and teachers find delightful.

To the right of our reception area is a large two-story indoor playroom used exclusively for the development of large muscle skills. It assures year-round activity, regardless of poor weather. With a stairway leading to play houses and a slide that ends in a ball pit, there is no shortage of fun in the colorful room we call “The Village!”

We’ve had several opportunities to expand our Windsor center over the years, enabling us to add more classrooms. The result exceeded our expectations. Our classrooms are generously sized, providing much more than the minimum requirements for CT classrooms. Each one is divided into activity centers that include science, math, music and movement, construction, literacy, and dramatic play. All of these centers are available to children throughout each day.

Every child deserves a safe, high quality learning environment. Our durable wooden furniture is designed specifically for children to help them feel comfortable and at home. Another added feature in our centers are the decorative light panels that our infants love, as it adds color and provides a great view.

Exterior Features
Educational Playcare in Windsor has 5 playgrounds! There are 3 separate playgrounds for our toddlers and two-year-olds located behind our main building. Several of the classrooms have direct access to this space. Besides the climbing equipment, riding toys and abundant running space, our children also frequently participate in special outdoor activities such as water-play, picnic snacks, and science and art projects.

Following the sidewalk next to our main entrance will lead you to our three-year playground. This playground provides more than double the space of the other three combined! Included in this area are swings, slides, several climbers, a large play house, 2 playscapes, including our signature giant boat, and an inflatable bounce house!

On the other end of the plaza is yet another playground for our four-year-olds and school age children. It features an oval track complete with riding toys and a set of large outdoor construction blocks. Children have access to the playgrounds and all of their amenities at least twice a day, weather permitting.

Windsor – West

Overview
Windsor-West is an extension of our Windsor center, also located on Day Hill Road. We opened this second location in Windsor in August of 2016. Located at 1045 Day Hill Road in the Windsor Business Park, we are only a short drive from exit 37 or 38 off of I-91 and just minutes from the towns of Simsbury and Granby. The new center in Windsor has been designed with every conceivable childcare benefit in mind. Having provided exceptional child care services throughout Connecticut since 1986, we poured all of that knowledge into its development. Every feature of the facility is a reflection of all of the positive things we have learned about early childhood education over the years.

Our center at Windsor-West is a beautiful and spacious state-of-the-art facility. As you drive in, you will be welcomed by colorful landscaping and a serene koi pond. The center also offers plenty of parking space to parents for easy drop off and pick up. Our classrooms are oversized and benefit from an abundance of wonderful natural lighting and colorful interior features. Outside, the 4 large playgrounds provide an extensive play area for the children, providing them with ample space to enjoy the outdoors while developing their large muscles.

Security
When you arrive at our front doors, you will notice that an access code is required in order to enter the building. Each family and staff member is issued their own unique code. In addition, security cameras in each classroom and play area allow our Directors to continuously monitor activities throughout the school.  What’s more, strategically placed “panic buttons” link us directly to the local police department in the event of an emergency.

Interior Features
As you walk in through our front doors, you will be welcomed by a large and bright reception area. Here you will be greeted by our Director and Assistant Director and offered a complimentary cup of coffee or tea.

Walking through the corridors, you will notice our beautiful and brightly lit classrooms. The entire center has gone through extensive renovations which have allowed us to provide larger classrooms while adding updated materials and equipment. As you walk around, you will notice colorful walls and durable child-sized furniture. All of our windows are low, as well as most walls in the center to ensure all rooms can enjoy great views and natural light.

All of our classrooms have been designed to be very child-centered, right down to the tiniest detail. One thing you might not notice but certainly our infants and toddlers do, are the decorative light panels. Young children are always looking up and this provides a far better view than harsh fluorescent lighting.

It’s hard to believe it from the outside, but we actually have 15 classrooms here. Starting from the reception area, to the left are our infant classrooms, followed by our younger toddler classrooms, and finally, our school age classroom – complete with a stage for performances! We also use this room as an indoor play space while the school age children are at school, allowing our younger children with a wonderful active play area on days when the weather doesn’t allow us to get outside. It’s also the scene of our arts and enrichment programs. On the right side of the building are our enormous preschool classrooms, followed by our older toddler classrooms.

Our preschool classrooms are enormous, and provide much more space than the minimum requirements for CT classrooms. Each of these rooms are divided into several activity centers that include science, math, music and movement, construction, literacy, and dramatic play. All of these centers are available to the children throughout each day.

Exterior Features
Our Windsor West center has four playgrounds; each one designed for a specific age group. The older children’s playground consists of swings, slides, playscapes, and a huge inflatable bounce house – the children’s favorite! The younger children’s playgrounds are covered with turf to provide a safe outdoor area for children who are still crawling or learning to walk. The playgrounds are surrounded by trees that provide shade to our children and teachers on hot summer days. Our playgrounds provide ample space to our children to enjoy the outdoors and participate in several outdoor activities. We also use these spaces for water-play, picnic lunches and snacks, and science experiments!
