OUR PROGRAMS - infant (chicadees)

ChicadeesAges: 6 weeks to one year.

The fundamental needs of infants are the same. As such, our goals for infants and toddlers (pdf) are universal for all of our babies.

However, each child and every family is different. Before our caregiving process begins we develop a comprehensive understanding of a child's home and family habits and routines. Our program is molded to the uniqueness of the child and their family environment. We never try and adapt the child to preset routines and schedules for our convenience.

Nurturing, loving care and positive learning are a single process. One does not happen without the other. The learning process begins at birth, and to maximize learning and development, our program provides:
  • Warm, loving caregiving, with lots of one on one interaction, holding and nurturing.
  • A language rich environment . both verbal and non-verbal. Our caregivers talk to our babies. From the age of 6 months on our caregivers sign with our babies!

  • Weekly lesson plans with activities designed to stimulate intellectual and physical development.
  • Reading, singing & music ... every day ... all day.
  • A visual and physical environment that allows for exploration and development of sensory and motor experiences. Our infant rooms are beautiful, with warm, comforting colors and tones and visually stimulating art and objects. Each room is equipped to provide babies with opportunities to develop and experience all of their senses: visual (color, patterns, size, shapes, etc.), smell, taste, touch (textures, weight, shapes, etc.), and hearing . in a thousand wonderful ways.
Finally, it is not an accident that all of our primary caregivers are mothers themselves. In fact, many are grandmothers!
