As we approach the end of the year, we can’t help but reflect on what an incredible year we’ve had at Educational Playcare. We are honored to have had such wonderful experiences with our families and teachers this past year.
The year started off with the grand opening of our 13th center in Glastonbury. Due to the overwhelming positive response from families, shortly after we opened we announced that we would be building an addition to the school that would triple the size of the original center. The extensive addition is close to completion and we are very excited to welcome more families to our center in the beginning of the year.
Later this year, we opened the doors to our newest locations in Cheshire and Oxford. Both locations were built from the ground up and reflect all of the positive components we have learned about early childhood education over more than 30 years of providing exceptional child care services. But our expansion didn’t stop there. In addition to opening three new centers, we have announced that we will also be opening centers in Ellington, Newtown, and Trumbull by the end of 2018.
One our most meaningful accomplishments this year was not only earning The Hartford Courant’s Top Workplaces award for the second year in a row, but we placed 3rd among all of the mid-size companies entered. We are deeply committed to meeting our mission statement of providing the highest quality programs for children and their families, and recognize that it is our teachers who make this happen. We thank all of them for honoring us with this award.
At Educational Playcare, we understand the importance of recognizing the achievements of our teachers as well. Each year, several of our teachers are nominated for the Terri Lynne Lokoff National Teacher Awards. This award acknowledges the critical role of childcare teachers in providing quality early care and education. Our teachers compete with other professional childcare providers from all 50 states. This year, not only were two of our teachers nominated, one was a Top 50 Finalist and another was a Top 10 Finalist! Congratulations again to Kelly S. (nominated), Ashley W. (nominated), Elzbieta K. (Top 50 Finalist), and Stacie Z. (Top 10 Finalist).
Our dedicated teachers work as a team to provide the highest level of care and developmentally appropriate programs for children possible, which is one of the reasons we implemented a spring and fall training that all of our teachers attend. These trainings focus on igniting passion and creativity in our classrooms, and inspiring our teachers to be leaders in the field of early childhood education.
Throughout the year, our centers participated in many events to give back to our communities. One of our most successful events was our Diaper Drive. Thanks to the help of our families and teachers, Educational Playcare collected over 19,000 diapers and donated generous amounts of formula, wipes, and other well-needed items. Along with this, Educational Playcare matched all monetary donations that were made. We greatly appreciate having the opportunity to help those in the community near and far.
Thank you to all of our families and staff who have made 2017 such a memorable year and we hope you all have a happy and healthy New Year!
